I first became aware of Becca Kubrick's comics from a review of DEAD GIRLS: BEACH DAY on Broken Frontier.
Their only comic available in the US, I believe, is MEAT 4 BURGERS from Silver Sprocket (image from Silver Sprocket)
ED FIRTH
I first encountered Ed Firth's art on one or another of those BF/Gosh Comics Drink and Draws. His incredible natural cartooning style really stood out from all the other participants. I'm pretty sure even if he couldn't draw a lick he would have been picked on the strength of that brilliant head of hair alone!
I'm not aware of any current availability of his comics in the US. However, a future US edition of HORNY & HIGH VOLUME #1 is mentioned in the article.
J WEBSTER SHARP
I recall first seeing J Webster Sharp's comics examined by Ryan Carey on tcj.com, a real mind-blowing experience to see all those images from their various comics all in one place.
In the US, Sharp's comics were available through Austin English's Domino Books. Unfortunately, he's long sold out.
KRY GARCIA
I'm sure I saw Kry Garcia's art on SmallPressDay last year, but its the review of the Short Box Comic Fair release of METEORS on Broken Frontier that I remember.
As far as I know, Kry Garcia's comics are not available from any US outlets. However, some of their work is available digitally on tapas
RACHEL TUBB
Another veteran of the 2022 Short Box Comics Fair, with the soon to be re-released METAL SAGA.
Rachel Tubb's contributions to WIP comics anthologies are available digitally in the US.
XIAOYI HU
Check out Xiaoyi Hu's website for samples of all her combination humanitarian/experimental comics.
Their comics are not yet available in the US (though they should be🤨).
Unofficial Honorable Mention:
There's only six artists picked a year for a good reason, highly talented ambitious artists like these deserve a great amount of focus and support. I'm just a lowly blogger, so I can sneak another deserving name on here if I want.
LEO FOX
I first discovered Leo Fox's disturbingly beautiful comics at the 2022 Short Box Comics Fair with MY BODY UNSPOOLING.
In late 2022 he received the second Athenaeum Gives grant.
In 2023 Silver Sprocket is rereleasing PROKARYOTE SEASON. which was self-published by the artist in 2021.
New Comic BOY ISLAND (2023) serialized online.
