Colin Blanchette has a new channel called COMIC BOOK MANIFESTO, which launched a few weeks ago. I love that he's still covering comics and comics-adjacent publications from beyond the mainstream/CGC slab ilk of other channels.
He relaunched with a flip through of the January PREVIEWS, showing us his personal highlights from the likes of Karl Stevens, Cinebook, Yoshiharu Tsuge, Aisha Franz, three titles from Fantagraphics, Caroline Cash, Jack Kirby, Rumiko Takahashi, Moto Hagio, among others...
Colin restarts my favorite feature with a group of RECENT READS, including EARTHMAN, Tradd Moore's DOCTOR STRANGE, Jonathan Luna's THE KNIGHT AND THE LADY OF PLAY, VACANCY, PUKE & EXPLODE, CORNY'S FETISH by Renee French, David Gemmell's LEGEND graphic novel, AT HOME WITH THE TOTTERINGS by Annie Tempest, and wildcard DETECTIVE ARTHUR MASTER SLEUTH. An amazing array of comics, as one would expect...
The rest of the month is filled with more quick hit RECENT READS. First up is COMICSBLOGGER #1 (and #0) from Thomas Campbell, an old-fashioned print review zine (I mean that with the utmost respect).
Then we get some beautiful alternative comics: Caroline Cash's PEEPEE-POOPOO COMICS #69 and S.R. Arnold's PERRY MIDLIFE...
Finally (although he's got a week left in the month!), CBM gives us a look at THIS IS SERIOUS: CANADIAN INDIE COMICS a book issued in conjunction with a gallery exhibit.
This is coming out today so I'm looking forward to the February PREVIEWS video in the future!
Thanks, Gary! Your encouragement is always appreciated. I recorded the new Previews video this afternoon so I'll try to post it on YouTube tonight.
