My Comics Reading List #8

Some more Silver Sprocket on Hoopla:
61. AL DENTE by Grayson Bear

62. BIG PUNK by Janelle Hessig

63. THE ANTIFA SUPER-SOLDIER COOKBOOK by Mattie Lubchansky

Silver Sprocket is the closest we have to a modern day underground comix publisher with the first four books here. They also publish a wide variety of other comics like the manga-influenced final two. So far, I've only come across one book that I haven't connected with, which is pretty amazing. Please support there efforts online or at your more open-minded LCS.

Here's a quartet inspired by Comic Book Manifesto:
67. JULIAN IN PURGATORY by Jon Allen

68. THE LONESOME ERA by Jon Allen
"Ohio Is For Sale" is a comic by Jon Allen that's been around for over a decade, it first came on my radar through Comic Book Manifesto's twitter and videos. I love the solid consistent cartooning and the easy to follow story in the above two collections. The characters aren't all sympathetic but in the end Allen totally draws you into their world. I would recommend checking out any of Jon Allen's work.

These review zines are great throwbacks from before the internet and social media eras! New issue out now.

Ebay finds:
71. THE SAVAGE SWORD OF MIKE by Matt Howarth
Two mini-comics from the 80s and a previously unpublished epic satire on collecting

72. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: THE HAUNTED PIZZA
Matt Howarth does the Turtles!

New Comics:
73. LOVE AND ROCKETS V4#13 by Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez
I've been reading Love and Rockets on and off since I was 17, so great to buy these magazine-sized issues like in the old days. The stories are still fresh and the art never disappoints.
