I've been catching up on recent issues of LOVE AND ROCKETS in anticipation of the new issue. The 40th Anniversary boxed set has been (rightly) the main talking point about the series for some time now. However, the current issues are just as good, if not better, than the original series.

That's as far as Earl Grey has gotten in the original series so far, it's a great opportunity for those of you thinking of buying the very expensive LOVE AND ROCKETS FIRST FIFTY boxed set to get a look at the insides of about half the issues in the first volume. Also an overview of past collections of LOVE AND ROCKETS, including a look at some rare early editions.

Those of you looking to buy LOVE AND ROCKETS THE FIRST FIFTY 40th ANNIVERSARY boxed set, it just came back on In Stock Trades for $280 (plus shipping).

Watching Comics: Gore Vidal

 Gore Vidal gives us a close up view of LOVE AND ROCKETS: THE FIRST 50 40th ANNIVERSARY EDITION on his YouTube channel. The meticulous Gore points out both flaws and strengths of Fantagraphics Books presentation. I'm not going to be buying this so it's nice to get a look inside this 30 pound beast. It reminds me a lot of Russ Cochran's EC boxed sets from the 80s.
