Watching Comics: sleepyreader666

Like many others, I'm sure,  sleepyreader666 is the first Comics YouTuber I came across on twitter, opening up a whole new way to enjoy comics. His wide range of collecting (Silver and Bronze age Marvel and DC to current choice selections from Domino Books) and generosity with his time (He's a frequent guest on other channels and podcasts, and constantly promotes other channels) have had a positive effect on my comics collecting life.

My all-time favorite sleepyreader666 video is his sharing of his extensive THE SPIRIT collection, it's an exhaustive look at everything from original THE SPIRIT sections to more recent comics from Dynamite. I do admit to sweating a bit when he took those newspaper sections from the 40s out and looked through them, not everyone would have done that!

An important series of videos is a three-part look at Richard Corben, the first video was made after the artist's death in 2020.

The second video focused on Richard Corben's DC and Marvel work.

The third video starts with some Warren and HEAVY METAL magazines, and concludes with Richard Corben's self-published Fantagor Press publications.

A final artist-themed video is an incredibly well researched and compelling rundown of his Neal Adams comics cover collection.

sleepyreader666 has changed gears this year in his videos (he's constantly evolving, another reason for his long YouTube life), let's end our tribute with his most recent video covering alternative graphic novels he's recently read.

Watch sleepyreader666's videos and maybe you'll be inspired to follow in his footsteps.
